Low-cost, proven interventions are the key to child survival

The Pan American Health Education Foundation (PAHEF)'s Child Survival Campaign will fund projects to help communities go beyond treating symptoms and into primary care practices that prevent diseases from occurring in the first place.

Simply speaking, we're working to help communities reach a level of basic care that we know works.

Some of these low-cost interventions against preventable disease are:

  • Vaccines to immunize against diseases such as measles, polio, tetanus, rubella, diphtheria, and hemophilus influenza
  • Bed netting that is treated to repel malaria-causing mosquitoes
  • Oral rehydration salt (ORS) packets to speed recovery from diarrhea
  • Training for health care workers to prevent sepsis or other health-setting acquired infections, especially in pre-natal and post-natal setttings
  • Booklets and other materials that are provided free to mothers to track child health.

Help children survive to five.
