In this article we have decided to pay attention to independent schools. There are a lot of them in the US, UK and in other countries. Parents know that they are more expensive in comparison with state schools. But is it the only difference? Let us try to figure it out.

When you come to a regular school, not a private one, you feel that there are not many people who are interested in you and your child as in individuals. A lot of people do their jobs. Of course, we will not generalize because there are different people, but the general picture is clear. And now try to imagine that you arrive to private Girls School, for instance… You will feel the difference in attitude at once. “This is because of money” - people say. Well, is it really so bad? Dedicated, committed and responsible staff deserves to be paid well.

It is important for each school to understand that academic achievement is a core, but social skills are also very important. When you come to private schools
you get first-hand experience in leisure opportunities and quality of education. It all contributes to a successful life of your child.

As you can understand, we support private sector in education. It has everything that is necessary for development. Unfortunately, state schools are not like this. But those who pay more money deserve better attitude.

Africa is a continent with a staggering amount of problems. Its history is filled with pain and suffering and its present is very far away from what most people in the West take for granted.

Children in Africa suffer the most from economic, medical and educational crises. There is also the problem of life threatening tribal traditions like female circumcision in countries like Nigeria. There is some progress made every day to improve the conditions of the younger generation in Africa. Many charity organizations are targeting bad hygiene, malnutrition and poor education and fighting for a better day for these children. But the future of Africa is in individuals and NGOs that not only send money and adopt African orphans but those organizations that focus on educating the native population how to rebuild their economy and their lives.

One great example is South Africa’s Oprah Winfrey Leadership Academy for Girls which is an educational establishment aimed to give quality knowledge to the most underprivileged – young females. The students at the school receive not only the best education but also online lectures from their virtual “aupair” Winfrey via satellite. This is a way to give these girls a chance to become powerful career women in the future who will rebuild Africa from its current underprivileged position. Although there is a lot of work done for these children, there is still room for improvement. Why not be the one who will make a change?

There are so many problems in the Third World it is difficult to point out all of them. Besides war, famine, lack of proper medicine and education, Africa in particular suffers from the AIDS pandemic. In Malawi about half of the population is infected – a staggering unbelievable number. Children of Malawi take the greatest toll of the tragedy. There are about a million orphans in Malawi and very few ideas about what to do with them.

Luckily attention was brought to this problem by a music superstar Madonna when she adopted a boy called David from an orphanage in Malawi. A foundation was started called Raising Malawi that takes steps to battle the overwhelming number of orphans in the country. What is more important is that legislation is finally created to help foreigners adopt children as Malawians cannot do it themselves.
